1 NOTE Known as Rooney to his family. He served for several years in the US Cavalry until he married Charlotte Wickham. He joined the Confederate Cavalry and was soon a Major General In JEB Stuart's Cavalry with his 1st Cousin Fitzhugh. He and Charlott
2 CONC e had two children both of which died. Rooney was wounded at Brandy Station and was home recovering when Federal Cavalry came to take him prisoner. His wife died while he was in prison. He was exchanged in March of 1864, he quickly rejoined his un
2 CONC it. After the war he returned to what was left of his farm "The White House", which had been burnt down during the seven days battles, and began farming. He later married Mary Tabb Bolling and had several children. He became a senator to Virgini
2 CONC a in the US Congress. He had just been elected for his third term as senator just before he died in 1891.

2 CONC y's wife in December of 1863 the family morale was low and Mildred took it upon herself to fix the problem. So she adopted a squirrel which she named Custis Morgan after her brother Custis and after John Hunt Morgan who was known for being har
2 CONC d to keep caged. After the war Mildred would take long walks with her father and help him to get his mind off the late war. Mildred never married for as she said herself nobody could compare to her father.
